Captain Ron Rusch Fishing Report

Shoreline Smallmouth and Bay Perch and Rock Bass 5/17/2002

Fishing Friday in the AM was cold and windy.

Presque Isle Bay provided for good catchin of perch and rock bass just east of the West Pier outlet into the bay. The bit was heavy but the fish were small only a few keepers. 8 to 12 feet drop was best.

The lake started to settle as the wind dropped at 10:30.

Fished the Cribs area and caught a few nice smallies.

By 1 PM the wind was just right for good drifting and small waves. The bite became steady for the remainder of the day. The smallies wanted the golden shiners today. Lake temperature 51 degrees now. Best depth 20 to 25 feet.

A Salt and Pepper tube did well also catching smallmouth bass.
